New Year's Party, January 1, 2006
Lots of great food and hanging out.
David's Birthday Party, January 7, 2006
Uncaptioned photos from Rosa's camera. I didn't really know many of the people this night.
Melvin's Birthday Party, January 13, 2006
Shots from Rosa's camera. I couldn't attend, but offered to host this album for everyone to see.
Lunch and Stuff on MLK Day, January 16, 2006
A trip to Olive Garden (a.k.a the O.G. - a.k.a. Jardín Olivay) with friends is always fun. Multiply that many times over when it's done on a holiday and followed by random schisms of photo ops.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, February 24, 2006
Ty and the gang came to Altamonte Springs to rebuild the Sadie Holmes family's home.
Family Birthday Party For Kids, March 5, 2006
Ashlyn's birthday is actually in February and Jarin's wasn't for another week or so. But with "gram" and grandpa in town from California to do some house hunting, and my ability to come over from Orlando for the weekend, we held a joint birthday party/picnic.
Easter, April 15-16, 2006
A weekend of egg decorating, a few small gifts for the kids, and a massive egg hunt.
Party for Shelby, April 22, 2006
Amy's dog, Shelby, had it kind of rough for a while—medically speaking. This night was an evening of gifts, fun, and pampering for Shelby.
Ashlyn's Horse Riding Exhibition, May 6, 2006
"Exhibition" may not be quite the right description, but that's good enough for me—and Ashlyn. She's been taking riding lessons and today participated in several contests. The whole family just enjoyed a day outside and watching her and all the other riders. Ashlyn was in four competitions—she took third place in two of them and first place in one!
Dinner and a Movie, May 7, 2006
Not my best shots—just some silly images from a dinner and movie night at my place. This night was the most people I'd ever hosted in my tiny condo.
Picnic and Pool Impromptu, July 3, 2006
A couple of friends and I had a somewhat impromptu fun day. Started with some eats, followed by a little bit of frisbee time and some much-welcomed time to cool off in the pool from the near-100° temps. Trying out my new camera's underwater capabilities added to the fun.
Pool, Play, and Picnic, July 4, 2006
Drove to my aunt and uncle's new home in Land o' Lakes for July 4. Met up with the family at the community center pool where the kids were cooling off. Afterward, there were a few games, some sparklers, and dinner.
Jarin's Yellow Belt Tae Kwon Do Graduation, July 8, 2006
Photos and videos of Jarin's yellow belt graduation, plus some demonstrations from some black belts.
Louisville Trip, August 18-21, 2006
A long weekend trip to visit Andy on his birthday and attend Katie's baby dedication. We also went to the Kentucky State Fair where, among other attractions, we spent quite a bit of time in the Textiles Exhibition and the Ugly Lamp Contest.
Kentucky State Fair, August 20, 2006
During my Louisville trip for Andy's birthday, we spent Sunday at the Kentucky State Fair which, besides the photos in this set, included the Textiles Exhibition and the Ugly Lamp Contest.
Kentucky State Fair Textiles Exhibition, August 20, 2006
I guess I can't call myself young any more. I actually enjoyed seeing some of these very beautiful quilts and other forms of textiles. Yikes!
Ugly Lamp Contest at Kentucky State Fair, August 20, 2006
The annual Ugly Lamp Contest culminated in a display at the State Fair. If you can bear to look at these hideous things, keep in mind that there are two categories—born ugly and made ugly. (The contest had been organized by Lynn's Paradise Cafe, but I learned the restaurant and, consequently, the contest closed down in 2013.)
Birthday Dinner for Laurie, August 24, 2006
An evening of food, fun, and a little magic at Macaroni Grill.
Candy Store at the Mercado, September 3, 2006
Sadly, the Mercado is now gone. Not sure if they're building a new Mercado or something entirely different.
Birthday Dinner for Mom, Aunt Betty, and LuCinda, September 9, 2006
A trip to Bahama Breeze on the Tampa Bay to celebrate the birthday of my mother, her twin sister, and my cousin whose birthday was the day prior.
1946 Dodge, September 23, 2006
It was for sale, but it's gone now.
Butterfly Garden, October 18, 2006
A few shots in a small butterfly garden, done for a friend, Nicki, but a few were too nice not to have in my own albums here. This was set up at Florida Hospital Orlando.
Ashlyn's Gymnastics Competition, November 18, 2006
She's improving with every competition. This album is mostly videos from my digital camera because I was too far away for using the flash (and they didn't want people to use flashes anyway). This competition was in Port Charlotte.
Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2006
Most of the photos in this album are not going to look much like Thanksgiving. Instead, several shots simply of kid-influenced family stuff.
Office Social To Downtown Disney and Dixie Stampede, December 13, 2006
This year's office Christmas social began at our office building for a short program and preparation of some gift bags to be sent to war veterans. We then boarded buses and spent a short while at Downtown Disney followed by a trip to the Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede show.
Christmas Village, December 15, 2006
My parents' Christmas village collection is growing.
Ashlyn's Gymnastics State Finals, December 16, 2006
Ashlyn's State Finals competition was held at the Tampa Convention Center. She took eighth place for the vault, second place for bars and floor, first place for the beam, and second place overall in her section! Yay Ashlyn!!!!!
Robert's Christmas Wonderland, December 20, 2006
A trip to a massive Christmas store. Just about any kind of Christmas decoration you could ever want.
Columbia Restaurant, December 23, 2006
Historical restaurant in Ybor City.
Christmas, December 24-25, 2006
Not sure how this worked out—I think my pictures from last year were better. Maybe I was just enjoying the family so much, I was less into picture taking this year.
Miscellaneous/random shots taken in 2006 which I did not include as part of any other set of photos.
