Las Vegas NAB Trip, April 6-10, 2003
Attending the National Association of Broadcasters Expo.
Vegas Hotel Sightseeing, April 6-10, 2003
My sore feet and hips were proof of the amount of walking throughout the Las Vegas Strip to see the famous hotels.
Leonard & Raiza's Vegas Trip, 2003
Some former coworker friends of mine also took a vacation to Las Vegas. Their trip was in mid-November 2003. Later, when I found out about it, Leonard and I had a look at each other's photos, commenting on shots the other person didn't get during their trip. He took far more photos than I did (more than 500 total), although many of his were shots that included his family. With his permission, I picked out 30 of my favorites to share here.
Vegas Entertainment, April 6-10, 2003
Star Trek: The Experience, Fremont Street, and Penn & Teller.
Family Visit, April 11-13, 2003
Photos of, mostly, my cousin's kids. My relatives from (at the time) southern California were visiting Florida.
Disney Park Trips, February 21-22, March 16, & August 17, 2003
I had seasonal Disney passes off and on for several years and occasionally tooled through the parks for a couple hours. This year, a friend also obtained a pass and we've hit the parks together from time to time. This album has photos of our visits to Animal Kingdom and Epcot in February (my brother was visiting so he and my parents also joined us two different days to go to these parks), MGM Studios (later renamed Hollywood Studios) in March, and another trip to Epcot in August.
Pooling Around, Summers of 2001, 2002, & 2003
Before I had my waterproof digital, some friends and I would fool around…er, excuse me, *pool* around with a waterproof disposable camera at my apartment pool, laughing at crazy faces and hair flying every direction while trying to keep our eyes open.
The first eight photos are from 2001 and was the very first time I'd ever used a waterproof camera. Not bad, considering no one had goggles and we were all tired from a beach trip and using the pool to just clean off and relax.
The next 13 were in 2002 shortly before the wedding of my friends, Luis and Marisol, who loved crazy photos and wanted to do this as their engagement photo session.
The last 25 from 2003 was jokingly branded "Spanish Weeki Wachee" by other friends who later saw the photos.
Washington Trip, August 29-September 8, 2003
Photos from my fifth September trip (except for 2000, it was becoming annual event) to visit my brother, his wife, and my nephew in Washington state. Riley's second birthday was the occasion.
Holy Land Experience, October 17, 2003
An abbreviated excursion to Orlando's Holy Land Experience. This is, by no means, an exhaustive set of exhibit photos.
Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) Release, Tampa Apple Store, October 24, 2003
It was VERY cool to attend an Apple Store event for the very first time.
Here's my archived blog entry of the event.
I didn't bring my camera in since I was too busy with other matters, but I found these photos on MacMinute by photographer Jack Rowland: "The line for the Panther launch at the International Plaza Apple Store in Tampa, Florida began forming around 6:30 p.m. The doors opened right at 8:00 p.m to cheers an applause from the Apple faithful. Each person who entered the store was greeted with a handshake and a smile from the store staff. I estimate that more than 300 people were in line at 8:00 p.m. With a 10% discount on all hardware and the same discount on everything else in the store if you bought Panther, everything was selling at a brisk pace. I left around 10:15 p.m. and about 100 people were still in line, since the staff was controlling the number of people in the store."
Clothing Don'ts, November 3, 2003
The youth department used to collect scads of items—especially clothes—to take on mission trips. Rosa decided to try out some!
Ádamas and Runnin' Blind at Reilly's, November 28, 2003
Local bands Ádamas and Runnin' Blind (both seemingly disbanded) performing at Reilly's Lantern Pub near Universal Studios. It's a shame Ádamas never made it bigger because they were sounding better and better every time I heard them. (The lead singer was my friend Juan Bautista.) This gig was the first I'd ever heard of Runnin' Blind. They were missing their bass player, but still had a great sound.
Disney Parks with Friends, December 4, 2003
Some friends and I spent a day at some of the Disney parks. I still had my seasonal pass, but props to Emory (a Disney employee) who arranged admission for the others. Fair warning, this album was more about shots of us than of things at Disney.
Carlos' Birthday Party, December 21, 2003
Surprise birthday party for Carlos whom I met back when he was the drummer for Juan's former band, Ádamas. Fair warning, craziness was rampant.
Universal Studios' Portofino Bay Hotel With Friends, December 27, 2003
Just some goofing-around shots from the spectacular Portofino Bay hotel, a short distance from Universal Studios Florida.
