Note: Flickr recently went through a massive server transition, and portions of the service are still being worked on. Among the problems is that mosaic thumbnails on Collections are not visible, which means my primary page here for showing groupings by year are missing those thumbnails. The links do work—only the thumbnails are missing, so you can still navigate into a year to view those photos.
Visiting Washington State for the first time, primarily for my brother's wedding (although unfortunately that marriage is no more).
Geese at Puget Sound
My parents found a wonderful Holiday Inn Express in downtown Port Orchard that looks over an inlet of Puget Sound. We stayed at this hotel every time we returned to Washington for several years afterward. In the distance is the Bremerton Naval Base where Bryan works. The geese were regular visitors.
Bremerton Naval Base
A less washed-out shot of the naval base.
Heidi and Bryan were always such cut-ups.
Seattle from the Space Needle
No first visit to Seattle would be complete without a trip up the Space Needle.
Bryan's wedding rehearsal
Believe me, things didn't generally look this disorganized during the rehearsal.
The bridesmaids at rehearsal—Bre't, Elizabeth, and Deborah.
The groomsmen at rehearsal—me, Bill, and Troy.
Heidi explains it all
Heidi explains the plan to Bryan and her parents.
Tweten's Lighthouse Restaurant
The rehearsal dinner was at Tweten's Lighthouse restaurant. Great place.
Uncle Ted hints at the proper-sized slice of cake.
What would a rehearsal dinner be without a lot of this?
Time for a picnic and a much-needed break from the wedding preparations.
The bridesmaids show us their dresses.
Heidi's wedding dress
And we get a first glimpse at the bride.
Bride and groom
In case you haven't figured out, these were not the official wedding photos, but they still turned out well.
Heidi's siblings and parents
Bryan's family, including me, our parents, grandmother, aunt, uncle, and cousins.
Heidi and Bryan receive their toast from yours truly who felt it important to tease the fact that they met online.
Obligatory shots of the wedding-day customs. By the way, as you can see, the location was a beautiful outdoor park that someone specificially created for weddings or other parties. It was wonderful.
The obligatory catching-of-the-bouquet shot.
The obligatory acquiring-the-garter-belt shot.
Garter belt catch
And, the obligatory catching-the-garter-belt shot. I never did find out why the other guys seemed so disinterested. Tsk tsk. Their loss.
Bryan and Heidi make their exit
The older brother hands down his advice! (Hah—more like the older brother tries to get straight what his younger brother needs him to do!)
